Thought and Emotion Control

After all this controlling of everything and everyone about and now with religion added as a tool, the inner thoughts and emotions of the masses were next to be conquered and wrangled into submission.

Inner life was targeted for control to serve toward two ends: For the masters, it was more effective than external control to keep the masses from noticing their enslavement and, in the throes of righteous injustice, rising up against their oppressors.

For the oppressed masses it served in their attempts to defend ... even more defensiveness was required now ... against the Pain building up in them from all the assaults on their felicity to date. To function in such a deprived and unhappy state, folks needed to put out of their minds and to repress — with all their might and using all the devices at their disposal, including religion — the pains emanating from prenatal malnutrition, birth, guilty consciences from killing, huge workloads to survive, abuse as children, domination by a wealthy elite and/or by males, and finally religion itself.

Language

This motherese and cooing during evolution led eventually to lan- gauge. Certainly the roots of language are in the need for communication around survival while foraging in water. However, with secondary altriciality and the long extra time of mothering, that language ability was facilitated and enhanced. Along the same lines, the intense interaction between mother and child led to extra facility in what we had already been developing in facial expressions for the purpose of communicating. Like language, it is in the mother-infant interaction that particular skill is refined.

The uniqueness of this mother-infant time is easy to see when you compare us with other species. For example, think for a moment of the way we normally see a chimp or gorilla baby with its mother. Certainly they interact. Definitely they will occasionally play. How- ever, to a much greater degree, what you observe is a detached attitude of the mother with little to no eye-to-eye contact. That makes sense, when you think of it. For the babies being more mature when chimps and gorillas are born, they are past that time of excessive dependency required of humans. That means that chimps and gorillas can much more take care of themselves, even to the point that they do not need to be held but can cling to the mother’s fur. It follows that extra motherly attention is not necessary.

You will also, no doubt, be surprised, perhaps enlightened! ... as to the reasons these observers — these planetmates, meaning all the other-than-human life forms we share this planet with — who have studied us from our first beginnings, give as to our apparent nonchalance as death hangs over the entire planet, including ourselves and our families.1

Planetmates also seem to have more compassion for us than do some of our own humans for the masses of humankind. They point out that many good attempts by humans have been undercut, squelched, and more, by a certain group of greedy humans, intent only on short-term profit.

We know who some of them are, in fact.2

Still, it is hard to imagine the reasons that such a great number of these people would have to want to disable us from saving the planet and them along with it.

At any rate, what I am saying is that many planetmates have a kind of shared mind ... they participate in a kind of field of mind or understanding ... and that gives them the ability to know things they were not taught. In a sense, the species did the learning over the course of its evolution, and it is shared mentally by all members. If that sounds unbelievable, realize that what I just described is exactly the way one new biologist, Rupert Sheldrake, describes his theory of morphogenetic fields.5 More about that later.

In any case, now we have lost that shared mind. We have lost that ability. More correctly, we believe we have lost it, for we retain some ability of shared mind, or telepathy. Still, for the most part we ignore it, dismiss it, or at least downplay it, goaded on by the emptiness inside, wrought of so much forgetting.

What instinct has to do with secondary altriciality and culture is that

a) In the womb just before birth we experience an hellacious time which splits us off from our connection with Divinity. …other people in as mediators with the Divine — priests — and religion was slanted along the lines of the desires and wishes of the higher-ups, the elite. Consequently, obedience to higher power, rather than individualistic and creative relation to the Divine, took over as the ethic.

Gods and Patriarchality

Controlled and increasingly living in fear, people imagined gods, then concocted them, who were amalgamations of the authoritarian figures of the society and culture — the fathers-husbands and the wealthy Controllers. Religion became infused with a morality, a patriarchal one, that was only superficially covered up for what it really was — a mechanism to keep the family members, in particular the wives and children, as well as the masses in line. This increase of control represented a gradual loss of self, or soul, from all these factors; and the process continued, with religion and the elites of society directing the populace of society along ends specifically suited to themselves.

Secondary Altriciality and the Origins of Culture

The other part of prematurity is the helplessness after birth and the extra dependency of the baby on maternal care for survival and growth. The additional time of helplessness that humans have is termed secondary altriciality.

With prematurity came secondary altriciality. And with second- ary altriciality came culture.

Let me explain.

Sociability

The intensive care required of newborns created an exceptionally important time of one-on-one engagement of the infant with its caregivers, usually its mother. Right at the start, we are forced into socializing, however we can. We need to communicate in any way possible to get our needs met. And we are helpless to any ministrations that our caregivers might put upon us.

We become more social than our relatives in Nature. By that I mean the increased dependence required of human infants resulted in much greater maternal care and interaction between mother and infant. Thus the need to communicate and nurture led to cooing, led to motherese — which is the baby talk and cooing that mothers adopt naturally and for humans universally, as the way to talk to its baby.

…people. So figuratively we are in the midst of a trillion-alarm fire that’s blazing further out of control and soon will be unstoppable. You may be one of us who are wondering why, in such an extreme emergency, most folks are, well, in denial, or, “compartmentalizing,” or, “got their heads in the sand” or up some dark part of their anatomy. or “fiddling while Rome burns,” or any of the other things you’ve heard and observed from these others. You may be wondering at their complacency and their refusal to hear, even, that their lives and that of their families are on the line; or you may be astonished that they fail to see that their turning their back on this threat could be something they will hate themselves for, well, not long here, but if there’s eternity, well, that long.

So, readers already thinking this way will hardly be offended by the message from our nonhuman brothers and sisters, and will want to know what the message is. Still, you’re going to get a lot more than you expect. It’s guaranteed that you’ll be shown a way of seeing humans and our actions that has never occurred to humans.

Thus, the purpose of life was to experience what one would as ego — as seemingly imperfect, muddled, and often out and out seemingly wrong, as that necessarily would be — in order to, by pain and unhappiness, be prodded into a path of return, spiritual return, primal spiritual return, back to Divinity, wholeness, and Grace.

You’re born, you become less, you create an ego, separate from the All, you have experiences.

These experiences enrich you, though they seem to be mistakes at the time.

You seek your own destruction through them, as well,

so that in this lifetime or many, you return to the All.

An Experiential Metaphysical — Experience Is Divinity and Funny God

Subsequent to these discoveries and their eventual postulations as theories, frameworks for understanding, and paradigms, came a further elaboration that involved a description of Reality as essentially Experience, with matter being metaphor for true existence — which was coincident with the findings of quantum physics and Idealistic and panentheistic perspectives of all times. This I did in Experience Is Divinity: Matter As Metaphor (2013). In it, I addressed the metaphysical basis of reality.
