After the drowsing months attached to drips and monitors whose never ending beeps at first prevented then abetted sleep, after the bedpans, bed baths, and dry lips... at last my story into absence slid without a whimper, just the faintest “tut” and unvoiced sigh of one not dying but who’s fought for minutes with a child-proof lid.
