These grids could not be more distinct, in the primal process, for in a session, after accessing and releasing-integrating material rooted in one’s pain grids, one would sometimes find joy grids rising up. Put another way, one would begin a primal session looking at everything in a negative light that fit into overall negative matrices that one carried within oneself for most of one’s life. But upon accessing deeper experiences, prenatal ones, in which one experienced euphoric, blissful, or contented events, one would, almost magically, view those exact same seemingly negative elements in a different configuration, one which was positive and life affirming. This joy- grid configuration beyond the pain-grid viewpoint gave one hints of different, more positive and workable, strategies for living and for arranging and following through on the details of one’s life. The switch in the way one viewed the world would be drastic ... and wonderful. It was far more healing and growthful than merely accessing one’s pain grids, as in traditional primal therapy. Thus, “the second half of the cure.”4

An unacknowledged aspect of this is that since women, as well as men, are born of women (mothers) this pre-birth Divinity is feminine for woman as well as men, for it is colored by the fact that its earliest experience in life happened inside a woman (mother). Since women lose their connection with Divinity equally, as men, at birth, it is no wonder that the Divine Feminine — having qualities identical or at least reminiscent of those of the anima in men — plays so strongly in women’s psyches as well. This is regardless of how much Jungians try to make the animus of the female ... the male qualities in the woman that are repressed ... to be on a par with the male’s anima. Another way of saying this is that the feminine/the Goddess is repressed in both women and men, so both genders feel the need to unite with a feminine within themselves. For men, this feminine appears initially as an anima. Whereas, the animus in women is merely the repressed masculine aspects of the personality, and its integration, while important, especially at earlier stages, cannot compare to the more comprehensive integration of “feminine” elements later on, characterized by the Goddess or the Divine Feminine.

Certainly, that adds additional variability to what humans end up becoming. Still, it is generally true that our fundamental needs as part of our staying alive and growing to maturation are taken care of near perfectly in the womb, as are other species. This changes at birth. At this point forward, the needs, essential for survival and growth, have to be provided by imperfect human adults. These adults are as different in personality as can possibly be. For they are the consequence of themselves, as well, having gone through the unique set of birthing circumstances and widely varying satisfaction of needs in their earliest life. Indeed, humans are as differ- ent from each other as in the world of Nature entire species are different from other species! So, add loneliness, as well as alienation, to our pain as the suffering planetmate. Beginning to sound like being human on Earth is for the Universe the equivalent of that hell we have fashioned in our minds, isn’t it? Anyway, this near infinite variation of human personality results in near infinite differences in the ways newborns will be attended to and nurtured.
