Illyngophobia - The fear of vertigo or feeling dizzy when looking down. From the ancient Greek il-lynx / illyngx (ίλλυγξ), "vertigo," "dizziness," or a "whirling sensation" and phobia (φοβία), meaning "fear," "panic," or "terror." #grammar #grammardiva #wordoftheday #etymology

I have a hypothesis that the Norwegian word "trulte" for a short and rotund girl, almost certainly from "trulte" meaning 'roll' (v.), shares a root with English "trend" and "trundle". My very superficial investigation neither proved nor disproved this.

"Lewd" didn't always mean "dirty". It used to mean "uneducated".

From "not part of the church" to "obscene", I guess "lewd" was always ungodly.

The words grenadine and grenade are both related to the word pomegranate.
Two people were eating pomegranates at some point--
#1 said "What if we made a liquid that tasted like this?"
#2 said, "What if we made this out of metal and explosives and used it to kill people?"

"Villain" wasn't an evil person until the aristocracy got involved.

It's just another example of the rich looking down on the poor. It's class warfare encoded in language.
