Catoptrophobia - Fear of mirrors, reflections, or breaking mirrors. Comes from the Ancient Greek word kátoptron (κάτοπτρον, meaning "mirror") combined with -phobia (from phobos, meaning "fear"). #phobia #Halloween #words #grammar #etymology #wordoftheday #grammardiva

Did you know?

"Cheese omelet(te)" in French is "omelette au fromage". Saying "du fromage" is incorrect because the eggs aren't made of cheese, but with cheese. 🍳🧀 #fact #food #language #grammar

"Thou" and "ye" are not the same.

• Judge not, lest ye be judged.
• Subtoot not, lest thou be subtooted. Thou personally. Yes, thou. Thou knowest who thou art.

I had used #Grammarly in the past then I switched to #LanguageTool until it stopped being free. I just stumbled upon #Harper and it seems to be working well. I need a #grammar helper because I make too many little mistakes to catch them all. Here is hoping this goes well.

I wondered about following the #grammar tag, but it looks to be mainly links to articles about common #usage errors. Muting or filtering those would probably also mute things I want to see.

Keep a list of your known grammar problems.

Post it within eye view of your computer. Are you still making the same mistakes? During your re-read do you 'see' the same old problems? Try to fix them immediately and tell your brain to do better. Improve.

Once you understand you need to improve something about your writing, you may try to avoid learning and you may hire an editor etc. You may lean on ai or writing tools rather than focus on your missing educational reality. They can help a little...but...
