One of my portal fantasy WIPs, The Nequinum Gests, take place in summer or autumn during the solstice/equinox (when the veil between worlds is thin)
CW: a lot of death to follow...
Rollan lost his parents and sister. He coped by hiding away from everyone and pushing away anyone who got too close.
Ferris lost the first man who ever made him feel alive. He coped by asking to be turned into a vampire and...
My MC has lost the innocence of her childhood and she is very bitter about it. She copes by withdrawing from other people and finding solace in nature.
Before the start of Prophecies, Jorang's parents left him with a paramilitary order of peacekeepers - his family now. But when the order lost its own way, he had to leave in protest. He's been searching for belonging ever since, and tries too hard to make the other MCs into his new family.

CW: Death
When the Assassin's Guild is disbanded Raven is bereft. It gave her a purpose. What does a killer do without that?
She still trains in hope, even though most of the Assassins have now been hung.
If she doesn't train it would drive her crazy. She can't be still.
What is something your character has lost and will never get back? How does that make them feel? What do they do to cope?
(CW as needed, please)
Dialogue. Always. I absolutely love to write dialogue especially when the characters have really good chemistry already. I also love to write fight scenes! Not a lot in SaY, but WIP 2 has oodles!

Oooh, tough one. I'll have to go with Ascalon Poplar-- an entitled nice guy of the genteel poverty. He has a deep infatuation for Alicia (the time-traveling Heroine) & keeps pestering her like an attention-seeking child 🧵

In my wip of The Nequinum Gests, the first power-hungry character is Amartia:
A demigoddess-witch, princess, temptress, colonizer, conqueror, warrior, megalomaniac, manipulator, sadist, and narcissist.
Oh, I love the big, dramatic, emotionally loaded scenes. The ones that feel huge and important.
I also love the small random moments where tenderness and love peek through. Those moments that (hopefully) make people squeal a little for the MCs. #writingq

I love scenes filled with something unspoken that two or more characters are dancing around and getting *so close* to openly talking about or realizing and it’s right there for them to take.
That and the final fight of each book.
What’s the type of scene that you look forward to writing? I love dialogue. I’m starting to get better at fight scenes too #writingq #WritingCommunity
