Cryptids are a cultural passtime for folks in the 5GC.
There's some Fearsome Critter (thats a technical term) around every corner if you look close enough.

The deserts of Camp D have a higher population of these than elsewhere, since cryptids thrive where there are...

People of Stave’s Hall, in a bid to attract their patron deity back, throw a massive arts festival every year following the All Gods Festival, hoping to one day create something to bring an end to Stave’s wondering.

And the banishment have all been erased from history, the explanation people have come up with for why Stave has not returned to his home is that he is abroad gathering all of the finest examples of craft in the world before he can return to apply them in his Forge.

So the

Stave’s Hall is the largest settlement in the Forgelands and is, perhaps unsurprisingly, named for Stave, God of Art. It was his place of power during the War of the Gods, and he gave it up to seal his connection to Belator during the formers banishment.

Since Belator, the War

Among the ParDafi, a kitling cannot become a mature adult until they undertake a solo hunt for an auroch. (The only time males and females have full equality)

Failure to complete the hunt results in exile from the Clan.

There are some folktales relating to the lack of water, mostly related to angering gods (unverifiable) or spirits (probably has a grain of truth but which spirit are you going to ask and how long do you want to live). There are also more localised legends,

Mostly grasses and small shrubs of the sort you'd expect to find in the tundra. There are stands of trees but they're rare. Animals include horses(?) and a sheep/goat like animal that is herded. There are also plenty of insects, birds, reptiles, small mammals,

The Salt Lakes take, the Salt Lakes give. If we want to preserve our food and have it taste better, we should dive in the lakes to harvest the salt but with no certainty of coming back. Who survives will have one more chance to eat another day.

Glad you asked!
The Akapan began as a small coastal settlement by a natural spring. They worshipped an earth god. Then invaders came and brought their spider god. They built canals and farmed. Many civil wars later, the two gods live in harmony.

(Then the wind nation attack)

Akapana deserts have many specialised plants that my characters don't know the name of, but they're famously full of cacti and not much else. Their seas are incredibly rich.

#OctoberWorldbuilders The deserts of the Vastlands are pretty much like our own. The Dead Heart, on the other hand, has reptiles and birds more dinosaur-like than anything else, along with an assortment of venomous snakes, spiders, and scorpions worthy of Australia.

For literally centuries the Pitaka people called the desert Soreia would later be built on 'Narakah' (Which is kinda like 'Hell' in Sanskrit). They believed it was endless and entirely uninhabitable. So much so that they believed it to be a trick of the Gods.

In the Hero's Edge, there aren't any organised religions, only a few disorganised ones, and some assorted spiritualistic faiths. Thus far, I haven't actually delved into them or their assortment of beliefs, but I will - 🧵

The Architecture in this place is surprisingly modern, but organic as it is grown and molded out of the ground itself. infrastructure is shaped and molded over for pipes wiring (1/2)

Hello, #OctoberWorldbuilders! Tell me about some of the deeper lore of your desert. What myths, legends, religious stories, folklore, etc. do you got? What stories do people tell about this land or about something in it? Or what do they believe in general about their world?

The Malkaana is home to salamanders, and not the amphibious kind! These salamanders are flightless draconids who subsist on cacti and camels. Their arcana allows them to banish excess body heat, a very useful adaptation.

#TheDragonblood: The flora and fauna of Kumat largely resembles that of Egypt.

Apparently in our world, changes to Egypt's climate have made some species, such as papyrus reeds, hippos and crocodiles, less plentiful than they used to be.
