It was a bit chilly getting into the ponds today, but needs must when there’s still blanket weed and leaves to remove. Also took the opportunity to cut back the old leaves of the Swamp Marigolds (Caltha palustris).

The start of Autumn at #GrosvenorSquare means keeping top of the leaves across the garden. Whilst most of the leaves are left on the beds, paths and lawns are kept clear.

Happy Friday 🌞

B is for Begonias.

I have two varieties in my garden:

Picotee Sunburst & Red Bronze Leaf.

Both have amazing colour & have given loads of blooms this year.

Do you grow Begonias? What variety do you like?

Happy Gardening everyone 🇬🇧🌱

I was asked to help judge the borough council’s allotments contest. At the awards ceremony we heard from Cheltenham Action for Nature about work to protect and boost nature.
As gardeners we are all custodians of the soil and gardens and allotments in towns are vital.

Happy Thursday 🌞

I am doing this for a bit of fun, now that the garden is slowing down.

One letter per day, one thing to be found in your garden.

Today is the letter A, which can only mean one thing in my garden...Alliums.

Happy Gardening everyone 🇬🇧🌱

There’s something rather special about a gift that began life in the garden. 🌿🎁

Autumn leaves are garden gold. 🍂
Gather them up, give them time and nature will turn them into rich, crumbly leafmould — wonderful for soil, borders and the garden beneath your feet.

Throw away the rulebook and let the garden surprise you. 🌱🌸

A little mulch goes a long way. 🍂🌱
It helps hold moisture, suppress weeds and quietly feeds the soil beneath our feet. One of those simple garden jobs that lets nature do much of the hard work.

Goodnight Bluesky Folks!

On Monday, I spotted three Garden Dahlias and took a picture of them with my Canon EOS R50.

🌱 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBluesky #PlantSky #UkGardening #Bloomscrolling #Flower #mobilephotography

The photograph features three fully bloomed, vibrant yellow dahlia flowers set against a soft-focus background of dark green garden foliage.
Blooms: Each flower head displays layers of tightly packed yellow petals surrounding a warm amber-orange center. The blooms are arranged at different heights—one on the left, a slightly larger one in the center foreground, and a third standing higher on the right.
Bud: A small, unopened green flower bud rests near the bottom-left corner on a thin stem.
Lighting & Background: Dappled natural sunlight illuminates the textured petals, contrasting brightly against the dark, shadowy leaves in the background.
