37. Since this was an early TOS novel (#18, published in 1984), there weren’t any references to self-sealing stembolts (or Chateau Picard 😊). However, there were a few callbacks to earlier TOS episodes. What were some of your favorite Trek references in #StarTrekMyEnemyMyAlly?

It's a popular trope because it works when a resolution is difficult otherwise. But to be fair, they gave us the heads up that this would happen.

She should have been given immunity and made a Federation citizen. She could have led a peaceful life there.

All gave some, some gave all. Ael knew it was a one-way trip for her, or at least she would never return, and she was ok with it.

She was sad, but she saw his betrayal and saw how there wasn't much she could do.

Good way to put it. Honor meant something to her.

6. This is more of an admin item – I noticed that Bluesky allows posts to contain more than 4 images. That was very helpful to me this weekend since I can now include more printscreens for each discussion question (not just be limited to 4). Yay!

5. One quick scene that I liked in the book was when McCoy mentioned he played chess with Ael and she beat him (and it wasn't even close).

4. I posted this earlier today but wanted to include it here too. The Star Trek opening credits in the style of Mission Impossible to the episode "The Enterprise Incident"! youtu.be/lzdo1EcI5cc?...

I have a few "bits and bobs" for this question:

1. “My Enemy, My Ally” Is the first book of what will later be known as the “Rihannsu Saga” by Diane Duane. Ael returns in the subsequent Rihannsu novels.

The Saga is composed of the following books:
#1: My Enemy, My Ally (1984)

36. If there is a topic from the book you would like to discuss which haven’t been mentioned yet, please post it here. Some potential topics include a favorite section, a memorable guest character or a favorite sequence.

For me, Trek has meant a sense of optimism of the future, discovering new worlds, meeting new people and learning from them. I also like the scientific exploration of our universe.
I think it will be at least 3 - 5 years after SNW S5 ends before we see Trek on TV.

I rather doubt that David Ellison or any of the new Paramount people have any idea what to do with Trek now that they have it, but I wish them the best.

Trek needs a new TOS, a group of fresh characters we can relate to and bond with and thrill to their adventures. Tall task. 2/2 #TrekBookClub

What I like best about Trek is the notion that humanity learns and grows across the long centuries, never achieving the perfection of the Organians, perhaps, but always improving themselves.

Modern Trek has lost its way. It doesn’t know what it’s about. 1/2 #TrekBookClub

With turning 60 this year. I feel a strong connection to Star Trek since I am the same age. My first exposure was the TAS, my first live episode was This Side of Paradise.
Trek will always be important to me. I wish this world would be like Trek.

Heavy questions. I enjoyed the worldbuilding in Trek, but also the social commentary. The characters resonate the most as well as the idea of the UFP.

I'd like to see a series set in the 25th century but that might be asking too much. #TrekBookClub #StarTrekMyEnemyMyAlly

35. Star Trek celebrated its 60th anniversary earlier this month. What does Star Trek mean to you? Which aspect(s) of the franchise resonates with you the most? How should Trek proceed over the next few years since it looks likely the franchise will be paused?
