where do we go?

You can apologize
with shame in your voice,
or you can apologize
by holding yourself
accountable

in a fair
and measured way.

Be careful which reality,
which story,
you’re both agreeing
to build back from.

“Let Me Love It Honestly”

Let me criticize the thing I love
without making me its enemy.

Let me say
this part was beautiful,
and this part was hollow,
and still mean
I stayed until the credits rolled.

This is an oooold poem that’s gotten a recent facelift and a new life between Chapters Three and Four of my upcoming book. 🤩

Give me a soapbox to stand on, and we will talk about 𝘈 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘖𝘭𝘥 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘌𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴. 😂

A vertical poetry graphic with an elegant deep teal background, subtle atmospheric texture, and faint gold accents. Cream-colored serif text reads:

“Márquez Moments

A thing
too great to behold,
a sight
too strange to believe!

Oh, it’s complicated.
It’s always complicated

in this world
of spectacle
and paranoia,

where humans
bear witness
to otherworldly things

then get on
with business as usual.”

At the bottom, the author credit reads “Serena Ampère,” followed by “AlethianStrata.Bsky.Social.”

“Morning always came
too quickly.

And when the sky
started turning gray

the world would return.

Responsibilities.
Rules.
The reasons
we weren’t supposed
to be doing this.”

Tattoos in moonlight
You paint her like a proletariat
On the inside burns a queen
On a stake smoke blows up her skirt
To suffocate her women-only womb
Her own heat spurs the flames away
Joan of Arc in black says not today

She spins the bottle with molotovs
Blows kisses at storefronts up in flames
Her platform boots crush fascist pigs
The rules died from her brass-knuckle fists
Her compass points to the third dimension
Her cries for freedom pure as spring
Drink from her well, become something

“I wanted penance.

Instructions.

A receipt.

Something difficult
enough
to make returning
to myself
feel earned.

Instead,

God came
and sat
on the floor
beside me.”

Truth does not arrive
at the first knock upon the door.
It waits within the hallways,
listening, nothing more.

All else falls away,
without one step stepped toward.
Walls will fade to silence,
and Truth alone is borne.

“Maybe that’s
how a heart disappears.

Not dramatically.

Not with someone
ripping it
from your chest.

Maybe you just
keep handing out
small pieces

until one day

you reach inside yourself

and there’s nothing
there.”

“There are truths
you spend
your whole life
needing to hear

that become
almost unbearable

when someone
finally says them.”

Maybe some truths hurt not because they’re cruel,
but because we deserved to hear them much sooner.

I spent
calling survival
a personality.”

Sometimes you survive something for so long that you forget which parts are you—and which parts were just trying to keep you alive.

It’s another day, and we’re all still blessed to be here.

But we live in a world constantly telling us how little we matter.

So, for whoever needs to hear it today:

You matter.

Here’s some poems. 💙💙💙

#poetry #blueskypoets #writingcommunity #BlueSkyPoetry #SkyPoet

A heartfelt poem about the ways our lives affect other people without us realizing it, and how kindness, humor, and memory can become evidence that we matter.

Evidence

You think
you don’t matter.

Meanwhile,

someone still tells
a joke you taught them.

Someone hears your name
and smiles.

Someone is kinder
because once,

you were kind
to them.

You don’t get to see
all your evidence.A poem about understanding a person’s importance through the absence they would leave behind, in familiar sounds, spaces, and everyday moments.

The Empty Chair

You learn
what someone weighs

when they leave.

Not in pounds.

In silence.

In the missing laugh.

In the chair
nobody sits in.

Don’t tell me
you are nothing.

Nothing
doesn’t leave a hole.A gentle poem about how changing the world doesn’t always require something enormous, and how listening, staying, or making one difficult afternoon easier for someone can matter deeply.

Ordinary

You don’t have
to change the world.

Maybe you changed
one afternoon

for someone
having the worst day
of their life.

Maybe you stayed.

Maybe you listened.

The world is made
of afternoons too.A hopeful poem for anyone questioning their importance, imagining the friends, neighbors, and strangers they have yet to meet whose lives may someday be touched by their presence and kindness.

For Whoever Needs It

There are people
you haven’t met yet

who will be glad
you kept going.

A friend.
A neighbor.
A stranger

who will need
exactly the kindness

only your life
could have taught you.

You are not finished
meeting everyone
who will love you.

“I had spent
so long
looking at
where I’d been hurt

that I hadn’t noticed

I wasn’t bleeding anymore.”

Sometimes healing happens quietly enough that the scars are the last ones to find out.

“How long
would You have kept mine?”

I asked.

God looked up.

“As long
as it took.”

— God Keeps a Lost and Found

For anyone who has ever worried they’ve been gone too long to find their way home.

Maybe the most intimate thing
isn’t being desired.

Maybe it’s being seen
beneath all the things
you were told made you dangerous-

and being loved
without being asked
to become harmless first.
