I was born into a world
that taught me fear,
before I even knew
what fear was doing here.
They taught me how to smile,
how to behave,
then taught me all the ways

We read of hearts
that break and bleed,
of lonely souls
in desperate need.
We turn the page,
we sigh, we care…
their sorrow safe
within our chair.
