Lovely aromatic waft across Pooley Hall Colliery floor today from Aniseed Funnel Clitocybe odora, although quite Rare to see one with a large umbo! Equally Uncommon, When Small Stagshorn are exposed to strong sunshine, they suddenly turn Flame Orange! #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mycology

Rare Glimpse at Bolehill Quarry of The Grisette Amanita vaginata. Beautiful Grey-Brown caps with comb-like striated Radial ridge margins. Whilst Nearby, much more common Tawny Grisette Amanita fulva has a distinctive Amber-Brown to Tawny-Orange cap #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mycology

Lovely to see Rooting Shank Hymenopellis radicata along Damp Riverside margin at NT Hardcastle Crags. Described as Tall and Graceful, caps become sticky when moist, Silky when dry. Ivory Bonnet Atheniella flavoalba loves damp Mossy environments too! #FungiFriends #Fungi #Mycology

A low-angle, close-up photograph of a warm ochre-orange mushroom tilted sideways among upright, green blades of grass. The underside of the cap is prominently displayed, showing fine, densely packed gills radiating outward in soft golden-apricot tones. The stem emerges from dry ground litter, where small, bright red berries rest on the earth. Natural daylight filters through the foliage, creating a quiet, earthy, and intimate autumn atmosphere at soil level.

Eye-level close-up of rounded, pale beige puffball mushrooms nestled low among green grass blades and scattered crisp brown autumn leaves. The puffballs have a finely textured, spiky, velvety surface. Soft, natural daylight highlights their gentle curves and earthy tones, creating a calm, grounded autumn woodland floor atmosphere.

Trying to Hide. (And they almost managed it!)

A low-angle, eye-level close-up of a cluster of small, pale beige and cream-coloured mushrooms growing through dry, curled autumn leaves. The delicate, rounded mushroom caps gather tightly together on thin white stems. Behind them, the massive, mossy trunk and wide buttress roots of an old woodland tree rise into soft, out-of-focus greens and earthy shadows. The lighting is diffused and natural, giving the forest floor a peaceful, rustic, and quiet autumn atmosphere.

Growing near Gunnera in @cubotanicgarden.bsky.social Stream Garden this leaf looks like Common Meadow-rue, Thalictrum flavum, & hence #mildew on it Erysiphe aquilegiae var. ranunculi (quoting Woods et al, 2024. See ALT).
All those in favour! ✋🍄

A fungus photo a day: I have an obsession with how tiny fungi can be (which is frustrating since my phone camera is limited in its macro ability), but look at how tiny this Strobilurus is and LOOK AT THE ONE BEHIND IT! Sooo tiny. Taken yesterday.
