Meanwhile any whiff of ‘stop oil’ or support for Palestine will be stamped on, with prison sentences to follow.

Comparing JSO with Dover is stupid because it strips away the operational context. JSO planned disruption could be resourced in advance. Dover was a sudden mass blockade at a critical port. Pretending different arrest outcomes prove political bias is misleading nonsense. #KentPolice #Dover #Policing

So perhaps stop blaming Kent Police for a situation they didn’t create. They were handed a large, disruptive crowd at a critical international gateway and had to restore access with limited resources. The protesters created the mess. Police had to contain it.

The protesters could create the disruption and walk away. Kent Police couldn’t. Officers had to remain, manage the crowd, protect the public and get access to the port restored. That’s the operational reality conveniently ignored by critics.

Arrests require officers to identify, detain and remove suspects while controlling everyone else. Every officer making an arrest is temporarily unavailable elsewhere. With limited resources, Kent Police had to make an operational judgement.

Let’s stop pretending this was harmless protest. Hundreds deliberately blocked access to a major international port, disrupting travellers, workers and freight. They created the crisis. Kent Police were left to manage the consequences.
This is totally unacceptable
#KentPolice have clearly failed in their duty of care as ordinary citizens go about their business

There has to be an investigation as to why it took so long to clear
Children will have been scared
For the umpteenth time:
Masked men in paramilitary uniforms blockading major ports for political reasons are terrorists.
Not arresting them makes you complicit!

Dumb shites like this are the bane of our society. They sit behind a screen, know fuck-all about policing, geography or operational resources, then confidently explain how hundreds of officers should have been deployed from thin air. #KentPolice #Dover

This is why comparing Kent Police with the Met is so lazy. London concentrates an enormous policing resource in one urban area. Kent has to spread its resources across a huge geographic footprint. That difference matters enormously when something happens suddenly. #Dover #KentPolice

So when people demand, “Why didn’t Kent Police just send more officers?” the answer is remarkably simple: from where? Kent is a huge county. Officers aren’t teleporting into Dover. Every reinforcement has a journey and an opportunity cost. #KentPolice #Dover
