The accidental alignment of thick ground fog and blazing sunshine above, with three bonus horses grazing in Port Meadow on Sunday (October 4th) morning at 8.15am. I've never before seen such thick intense ground fog before, so it stopped me in my tracks.

Todays #DailyNature prompt on the calendar is
'the accidentally aligned'
Look up tonight and during tomorrows predawn to see if you can see the crescent oon backed by Mars
Consider what else in nature accidentally alligns to make something beautiful
The faery touch of autumn
In the trees are all around,
are sleeping Corvids and songbirds,
in roosts and nests out of sight,
while flittermouse enjoys the twilight.

It doesn't crunch
the sunset.
Teeth draw softly down
vanilla glistening flesh
cheeks cloaked in
femme-fatal kiss.
My body replies with knowing,
'ah, hunger'
It tastes of rain.
I twist another - pop
rub roundling against chest,
a ritual for consumption...
I forget who grew
these apples

This Wall Lizard is living up to its name by being a lizard on a wall! 🦎
I saw many of these fab reptiles on a visit to Durlston Country Park.
Just now: fields full of gulls and crows, salt and pepper hurricanes, feasting on shaken soil's pic n mix

Murmur

all grief, all pain,
momentarily forgotten;
They are beautiful and fearless,
I wish I too could be so.
Starling Murmuration after Starlings in Winter by Mary Oliver
like a flower opening,
my eye barely follows.
My imagination stretches
to its limits as I try
to understand
how and when they decide
which bird is leading
and which are the followers;
my mind soars

Star-feathered
chunks of small black birds,
whistle-squeaking into
the dawning day,
they flock together,
forming a murmuring mass,
whirling, swirling,
flowing and ebbing to and fro;
they dip, then they rise,
forming patterns which,

Murmurs of the birds' wings.
My favourite birdnerd fact - murmuration is a poem in itself. Now, I always try to listen to them in the sky or else I might miss out on a quiet symphony of the air.

That's what I was thinking, as I observed new growth on my blueberry bushes. The contrast of fresh green within the clasp of summer drought-dried scarlet is so beautiful but I wonder, isn't the plant tired? Tired from being driven to keep trying, before it even takes a winter rest... #DailyNature
October
Number energy: one
New
Month, day,
... but Thursday?
Heat pillows through aqua tinged, teasing sky
... drought for autumn
Is that false spring, or summer, or winter?
Seasons square root, implode -
... ruby leaf finds its mark
a snails crawl from my toe;
Falls first:
