Tried a video thru my scope of the Great Bustards but it didn't turn out that well. Too much heat waves. Lots of gular fluttering going on but it didn't seem that hot to me. 24 celsius (75 F). #BirdingHungary #bustards #BigBirds

A few of the 33 Great Bustards (Otis tarda) I saw this afternoon. #BirdingHungary #bustards #BigBirds
A Dunlin coming in to join his homies. If it's looking for a party, it may be disappointed ... most of its buddies appear to be sleeping. 😴 #BirdingHungary #shorebirds #waders #sandpipers #peeps
Speaking of common birds, here's that bundle of twitchiness and constant motion known as a White Wagtail (Motacilla alba). This is a juvenile. Over the past month, billions have been moving through... anywhere where there is little bit of water. #BirdingHungary #wagtails #FallMigration2026
Close-up of Great Egret (Ardea alba) .. totally focused on finding some sushi for lunch! 😄 #BirdingHungary #egrets #herons #waders
Great Egret (Ardea alba). The most widespread egret species in the world, breeding on all continents except Antarctica. Very common in Hungary except in winter. #BirdingHungary #egrets #herons #waders
I call this gang the "Frying Pan Five" 😂 Northern Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) in flight. They start gathering in large flocks and that's the time to look for rare Sociable Plovers among them. Most Sociable Lapwings show up in October. #BirdingHungary #waders #shorebirds #WaderWednesday #lapwings
Common Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula) #BirdingHungary #BirdsSeenIn2026 #shorebirds #plovers #waders #WaderWednesday
A Dunlin ready for a good scritch! 😄 #BirdingHungary #waders #shorebirds #WaderWednesday #sandpipers #peeps
Anoither image of the Crested Lark (Galerida cristata) after it lost interest in the pipe. They really like bare dirt farm fields and suburban big box and strip mall parking lots. If you want to see a Crested Lark in Hungary, just go to the IKEA parking lot. 😄👍 #BirdingHungary #larks
I was trying to figure out what this Crested Lark was doing. It seemed to be listening to the water in this irrigation pipe. Or maybe it was just looking at a bug. #BirdingHungary #larks
Juvenile male Penduline Tit (Remiz pendulinus) trying to figure out how to attack this juicy morsel. 😋🍴 #BirdingHungary #tits
When the eagles cruise by, ducks, like these Mallards, high-tail it in the opposite direction. Great time of year when the #ducks are coming out of their summer eclipse plumage into fresh breeding plumage which they will maintain throughout the winter. #BirdingHungary #waterfowl
Young White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) #BirdingHungary #eagles #raptors #BirdsOfPrey #BirdsSeenIn2026 #BigBadBirds
Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus) enfloofenating 😄 #BirdingHungary #tits
When it's chow time, the godwits don't fool around. They are focused! 🍽️ 😋 #BirdingHungary #shorebirdds #waders #godwits
That colour-ringed Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) I saw last weekend was still at the same location today. This photo is thru my scope. #BirdingHungary #godwits #shorebirds #waders #FallMigration2026
A cute little Dunlin (Calidris alpina) waving hello. 👋😄 #BirdingHungary #shorebirds #waders #sandpipers #BirdsSeenIn2026
So many Ruddy Turnstones (Arenaria interpres) around this fall migration. Much more than usual, although still uncommon. Probably because so much habitat on the larger lakes and rivers, a consequence of the extended drought during the summer. #BirdingHungary #waders #shorebirds #FallMigration2026
Most of the small #plovers around right now are Common Ringed Plovers. Little Ringed Plovers (Charadrius dubius) - like this one - are getting scarce. This is the only one I've seen in weeks. #BirdingHungary #shorebirds #waders #BirdsSeenIn2026
