A Masked Lapwing has taken up residence on our front lawn. Rain hail or shine she steadfastly incubates her eggs. When disturbed the Lapwings make a noisy 'kekekekeke....keke' Mowing the lawn is suspended for the time being.

A large group of Lapwings and Black-tailed Godwits all took to the air together at Mudeford Bay, Christchurch, last weekend. They barely moved when two White-tailed Eagles arrived, but when a Peregrine flew over, all hell broke loose! #birdphotography #birds #dorsetwildlife #Godwits #lapwings

Some Lapwing images taken at a local lake recently.

I call this gang the "Frying Pan Five" 😂 Northern Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) in flight. They start gathering in large flocks and that's the time to look for rare Sociable Plovers among them. Most Sociable Lapwings show up in October. #BirdingHungary #waders #shorebirds #WaderWednesday #lapwings

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Iridescence, any bird whose colour changes with light on them. The Alt theme is #Black&White bird whose main plumage is Black & White.
Here is a flock of #Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) and some other birds.

One more for #WorldShorebirdsDay Southern Lapwing (Vanellus chilensis) at Montevideo. I've often wondered why North America is the only continent (excluding Antarctica of course) that doesn't have #lapwings . These big, noisy #plovers are a delight! 😀 #BirdingUruguay #shorebirds
