“I’ve come up to ask you to go for one of our old-time rambles through #September woods and ‘over hills where spices grow,’ this afternoon,” said Gilbert.

"Come, my Beloved, haste away…Over the hills where spices grow." Isaac Watts

Green Gables Heritage - the house is a museum formerly owned by LM Montgomery's cousins and is decorated how the book Anne of Green Gables described it. Note some important details in some of these pictures.

We have been on vacation to the east coast (Boston area, Maine, New Brunswick, and PEI). Visiting the Green Gables Heritage house that LM Montgomery used as a setting for Anne of Green Gables was one highlight. Love this screen door.

Montgomery read Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1903) probably in 1904-5. She never mentioned this book but she quoted from it in Anne of Green Gables. She also read Kate Douglas Wiggin’s Penelope’s Progress in April 1904, mentioned in a letter to George B. MacMillan.
