Montgomery read Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1903) probably in 1904-5. She never mentioned this book but she quoted from it in Anne of Green Gables. She also read Kate Douglas Wiggin’s Penelope’s Progress in April 1904, mentioned in a letter to George B. MacMillan.
