Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ABCD so here is an Anhinga, Boat-Tailed Grackle, Chuck-Will's-Widow, and a Dunlin. 😊🪶

A male Boat-Tailed Grackly shows off his iridescent blue and purple black plumage.

A female Chuck-Will's Widow is blends in to the brown sticks and leaves covering the ground. Her extreme camouflage is her only defense as she broods her eggs. She resembles a dry dead leaf.

A Dunlin wades in shallow water looking for food along the shores of Tampa Bay. The shorebird has a grayish-brown back and wings, white belly, and black legs and bill.

A black-capped chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) perches in a rhododendron bush. The chickadee is a small, plump songbird, mostly gray with buffy flanks, a black cap and bib, and white cheeks.

A chestnut-backed chickadee (Poecile rufescens) perches on a bare tree branch in bright winter sunlight. It's a tiny songbird with a dark brown and white head, rich chestnut brown back and sides, light gray underside, and mostly dark gray wings and tail.

A female downy woodpecker (Dryobates pubescens) perches on a feeder. The downy woodpecker is the smallest species of woodpecker in North America. She has a black and white striped head with a short beak, a checkered black-and-white pattern on her wings, and a wide white stripe down the center of her back, with a white belly.

The goofy-looking giant bird monster from the movie "The Giant Claw".
What happened was after the live footage was shot, they didn't have enough money left over to afford a first-rate monster maker. So they had to go with a monster maker who charged a lot less... And HE came up with this silly looking monster puppet... The audiences actually laughed when they saw this in the movie.
