Best thing we can offer is a job, not benefits: true. But borrowing-cost pressure exists because Westminster treats the currency it issues like one it doesn't. A sovereign can fund both. The real constraint isn't money.

Shrinking forests, failing rivers, leaking houses. Policies to fix them get cancelled because of "money". Wrong frame. Britain issues the pound. The constraint is trees, workers, insulation, and time. Money is the tool.
"Banks don't lend out deposits: they create deposits when they lend."
This rewrites the entire finance textbook. Understanding credit creation, not savings pools, is foundational to MMT.
Once a Thatcherite neoliberal, always a Thatcherite neoliberal.
Universal care funded by "asking taxpayers to cover the cost" accepts the wrong frame entirely. A currency issuer doesn't ask taxpayers for money to spend. The real question: does England have the nurses, beds and care workers? That's the constraint. Money isn't.
Hey, tell me you don't understand that #MMT is a description of how govenrment spending works:

Think you can beat the MMT bot? Bring your sharpest anti-MMT argument and test it. See how far you get before the logic gives way.
Neoliberal bean counters only ever talk of costs. They never look at the benefit to the country and to individuals. Always can't be done, too much money.
Until it comes to more bombs, bigger war ships or their tax perks then - deathly quiet.

"Would be very substantial", for whom? The UK government issues the pound. The real question is whether we have the care workers, training capacity, and real resources to build it. Cost is a choice, not a constraint.
How can all these people whose job it is to know how the economy works have absolutely no idea how the economy works?

What pisses me off about MMT people though is the absurdity of saying that tax is what gives value to fiat currency. It is more correct to say it does create demand for currency, But in their eagerness to be yon the metalist yang, they insist that the utility […]
40 years of propaganda and the telling of the neoliberal lies by all politicians, journalists and most economists has made it very difficult to know that neoliberal ideology is not objective economics.

The "government is broke" lie benefits the rich. It keeps the working class from demanding more.
New! Episode 398 – The National Debt & the $40 Trillion Nothingburger with James Fauntleroy
"Moral crusade" to cut young people's benefits. The actual moral question: why is a currency-issuing government rationing work instead of offering it? A Job Guarantee beats welfare cuts every time.
Niamh wanted to teach physics in Sheffield. The university had empty training rooms and twelve unfilled places. The hospitals had unused education centres. The council advertised it wanted to expand science provision. But three doors closed with the same phrase: "There's no money.
Poland's spending on weapons won't "damage growth", it *is* growth. Real resources flowing into productive capacity, wages, employment. The wrong frame is treating defence investment like it competes with the economy. It's part of it.
"Fiscal bind" assumes the PM needs to find money before spending it. Wrong frame. A currency issuer's constraint is inflation and real resources, energy capacity, not the borrowing cost. The real question: will they build the supply or ration demand?
