My poem titled Flutter.

…

A butterfly passed me by,
slowly, as if scanning who I was,
and flew away like it knew—

when even I don’t know who I am.

In this hospital bed,
who can I be?
I only know what I wish to feel.

I wish to feel the world’s heartbeat,
from my head in the clouds,
to my feet tickled by grass.

A landscape painted in my pupils,
carved into my long term memory.
I want to feel the flutter of everything…

to know the world is alive with me.

about our dead,
and how they are honored.

Something deep
and unknown still shifting
