236 moths of 32 species in the garden moth traps last night in mid Cheshire, including Brindled Green, Silver Y, Engrailed & Dusky Thorn. A perfect calm and warm night. #teammoth #mothsmatter
Garden Snail - first in the moth trap in 14 years :)
Last night’s Vestal was the 6th for the garden since 2013 - all between Aug 31st-Oct 25th.
Rhodometra - the pink ‘measure’ on the forewing
sacraria - the resting wing position resembles ‘sacred’ hands as clasped in prayer. ‘Vestal’ - a priestess - has similar origins.
Two different colours forms of Lunar Underwing in the trap last night in mid Cheshire. #teammoth #mothsmatter
As the autumn leaves turn orange/yellow some emerging moth species do the same as evidenced by my catch this weekend in North Norfolk. Sallow, Frosted Orange and Centre-barred Sallow showing off their autumnal disguise. #mothsmatter
'Pretty in Pink'. This beautifully marked Vestal was 1 of 5 to my 20w actinic moth trap last night. A record count for the garden, and I've never seen one as pink as this before.

#teammoth Another relatively dull night in my small corner of North Derbyshire #Derbyshire VC57. The only excitement being a NFG 🐰 Ypsolopha sequella 🐰. 🥳. Other than that I found a Ruby Tiger cat🐛 in the grass. #MothsMatter @savebutterflies.bsky.social #Moths #insects The NFG’s keep me plugging!
A new species for me in the trap in mid Cheshire this evening, Agonopterix arenella. #teammoth #mothsmatter
Special find NT Hardcastle Crags this week, Pale tussock moth Calliteara pudibunda. Beautiful Scarlet tail, beware when Black body markings appear! Once called Hop Dogs in SE England, as many a Hop Picker has suffered severe skin irritation from their Bristly hair #TeamMoth #MothsMatter
Lydd on Sea VC15, a windy, but mild night by the sea last night resulted in 72 of 29sp.
The highlight was this Blair’s Mocha, which was New for Garden.
Great to see a Bloxworth Snout out and about during the day, feeding on ivy in one of our hedges.
This Scarce Silver-lines was a nice surprise last night. Stunning moth! Other than that, it was a bit disappointing. I did have 4 Oedemera femoralis on the walls of the house. I've definitely not seen that many together before, anywhere.

The only interesting moths in last night's trap were the tiniest, Beautiful Twitcher and Carrot Ridge-back #MothsMatter
Oh my word -- what a work of art
165 moths of 32 species in the traps in the garden last night in mid Cheshire. Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, Rush Veneer, Shuttle-shaped Dart & Vine's Rustic all good to see on a clear mainly still evening. #teammoth #mothsmatter
The highlight for me in the trap in Cheshire last night was this Lunar Underwing. A new moth for me. One I had been hoping for. #teammoth #mothsmatter
Quite a faded individual in the trap in mid Cheshire last night, could it be Pine Carpet? I had Grey Pine Carpet the other night. #teammoth #mothsmatter
Lydd on Sea VC15 - a further quiet night by the sea, saved by my first ever Euchromius Ocellea.
