Old-fashioned Coast Guard lifeboat, brightly painted in white, seen from above and astern. USCG36500 is "known for the greatest small-boat rescue in Coast Guard history", saving 32 men from a tanker broken in half off Cape Cod in a winter storm in 1952. Now on display in Rock Harbor, Orleans.

My 😍 part of this scene is not visible. The parking lot is filled with parked cars. There are: babies, toddlers, children, parents, teens, dates, young adults and seniors all gathered together for the best show in town. A glorious sun setting on to the gentle tidal pools of Cape Cod Bay 🧡🥰

Coming Tuesday, "The Finest Hours: SS Pendleton & SS Fort Mercer." Feb. 18th, 1952, both ships broke in half during a vicious nor'easter off Cape Cod, prompting daring Coast Guard rescues. Both ships were converted T2 tankers from the WW2 era.

Took a quick day trip out to the Cape last weekend to check in on a friend. I wish I brought my watercolors. #capecod

The crowds are gone with Labor Day's passing. Only one other soul on Mashpee Beach this AM, witnessing this spectacular sky before the sun rose and the clouds dulled it all into gray. I'm reminded that I could have slept through this... and I always feel grateful when I don't. #eck #capecod #sunrise
