I took this photo on Friday by the canal in Leamington Spa. I believe it's a Michaelmas daisy but I have no idea which one! #wildflowerhour

Sadly the only thing flowering in profusion along the banks of the River Frome (Dorset) this week, is this admittedly beautiful, but highly invasive, Himalayan balsam (Impatiens glandulifera). No wonder it’s such a problem. #WildflowerHour @wildflowerhour.bsky.social

Cottonweed Achillea maritima toughing it out on the beach. Hayling Island, Hampshire. No sign of flowering in this recently introduced population. Most plants seem to have been swamped by sands from last winter's storms. #wildflowerhour @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Very strong resurgence of Oxford Ragwort (Senecio squalidus) around Conwy & Deganwy following the recent rain. Despite its parents coming from Sicily, it really didn’t enjoy the heat and drought #wildflowerhour

Found this nightshade in flowerbed outside a newly built city centre block of flats. Looked different to the ubiquitous Black Nightshade. Is it Green Nightshade? #wildflowerhour #WildflowerID

The coastal walk from Keyhaven to Normandy Marsh, Hampshire is always invigorating and there was much to enjoy there yesterday.

I was particularly drawn to this flowering spike of Sea Aster, with the mirror-like Solent behind. An hour later, the tide had retreated leaving only mud!

Sea Aster near Normandy Marsh, Hampshire, with the Solent in the background - reflecting the blue sky and white clouds perfectly.
