From One Bad Tuesday: Ch. 11 - No Shoulder to Cry On (first draft)

CW: brief mention of assault

archiveofourown.org/series/3436765

Her father seemed to grow a bit taller and stronger as they wandered into this new part of the afterlife. The deep space around them almost shimmered with purple haze. He inhaled and folded his arms across his chest. The same feeling she had when thinking about what Marak wanted to do to her, was written plainly on her father’s face. The same look she saw on other victims of assault that she came across in the clinic or Innani’s store. “It was after I was exiled. I found myself slowly healing and barely able to walk on the edge of the city. No magic. Just tossed onto a supply van and ditched in an alleyway as they went to get the last of our Church’s equipment from the hospital. I had no one, except a friend. A dusk elf named Jeth. He was my accomplice in almost every way, even told me he would be waiting for me if they let me live.” “So you made friends with an outsider. Hypocrite.”

From One Bad Tuesday: Ch. 8 Ties That Bind

“Get off me!” Her half-eaten greasy burger met his face, choking off his words and smearing his vision. “Fucking dickwad. Look what you made me do.” “Ughh!” He fumbled for a napkin. “Cunt.” “Screw you.” Her teeth were out, he could tell without even seeing her. “Fuck off about it, okay?” “I got ketchup in my eye! Fuck, it burns!” “No, you don’t have fucking ketchup in your eyes, because I didn’t put any on the burger, because they’re all in these fucking packets, which you’d know if you fucking paid ATTENTION!” The car door opened, then slammed shut. “Cerise!” He bellowed. “Fucking bitch!”

From One Bad Tuesday: Ch. 11 - "No Shoulder to Cry On" (First Draft)

archiveofourown.org/series/3436765

“Fuck you.” She sneered, flipping him off while her other arms didn’t even waste the effort to express their anger. Her dark purple hue softened to lavender and the plume of white flame on her head returned to strands of ivory hair. “Guess you got your forgiveness. Good luck getting to where you wanted to go.” Nat could hear the distant roar of the void still far behind them. What if he got demoralized and tore open that decaying path again? She slowed down enough for him to catch up but did not turn around or speak another word. “Natalyiah, I can explain. Please give me a moment.” “We’re going in the same way. Talk to the wind for all I care. You got what you wanted. I’m about to become a chew toy for a demon.”
