Not her usual red-wine. A quick glance back towards the soundbooth, caught Wali peering over the wooden edge, pretending to keen a long pointed ear towards the stage as they ran another sound check. Something else off. Bad as he was at it sometimes, Wali always got the sound just right after the first try. Even he was on the hunt? What was going on?

Izzy caught the woman’s eyes in the mirror. “Yeah,” she said. “It’s time.”
Before she knew it, her hair was pulled into a ponytail, braided, and tied off. A few quick snips later, it was gone, dropped into a resealable bag ready for donation.

“Quinn?” A soft voice calls from a few feet away sometime later, and I look up to find an attractive woman wearing a Runaways t-shirt (Joan Jett, not Marvel). And she is looking over at me with a wide, surprised smile. She has long, curly black hair, with the left side of her head buzzed down nearly to her scalp, an open face that’s cute in an easy-going kind of way, full lips and the slightest bit of a gap between her front teeth. But it’s her eyes that really catch me; wide, rich mahogany-brown that...I’m sure I’ve seen before. And she clearly recognizes me.

I smile brightly on autopilot, saying “Oh, hi…how’s it going…?” It starts pretty strong, but my words quickly putter off when it becomes obvious I’m drawing a blank on who she is.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw your name on the website, this is wild,” she carries on, stepping over to the table. She does seem very familiar, why is it not coming to me? Shit, did we sleep together? My nineteenth birthday was a bit of a blur...
