All the sexier for the pistol in her hand. “Back to flirting.” Bombshell put her hands up, relaxed, only the phone in them, right where K could see it. The bounty hunter’s eyes darted nervously. “Let’s go, before whatever trick you have up your sleeve goes off.” Bombshell laughed. “I’m not wearing sleeves. Actually, I wore this dress for you. Do you like it?”

Soon the board was filled with their forces, as they played out the pageantry of the first stage. Territory was established. Geni was an aggressive player, forcing Kallista into a defensive posture. But this of course had a weakness that even Kallista was aware of, despite not being a competitive player; the further they got into the first stage, the more over-extended Geni would be. If she played conservatively enough, and looked like enough of a naive fool, Kallista could bait her into weakening her flank. Of course, she caught Kallista at it only two tiles into the change in rhythm. "Ah. You do know what you're doing after all. Very sneaky, Kallista, very sneaky." Kallista took a quick sip of the dregs of her coffee to hide the rising blush. "I don't know as much as you, perhaps, but I know enough."

The kind of guy you’d find listening to headphones in the park, playing chess with himself. If she’d ever needed proof she was a lesbian, this was it. Right now, his bland features were contorted in a mask of irritation. “So, thanks for apologizing and for buying another drink - but we were in the middle of a conversation…” he trailed off, clearly expecting her to take the hint. Again, she angled her body towards the girl, subtly away from him. “Oh, cool, about what?”

Shannon caught the briefest flash of annoyance on Jacqueline’s face before it vanished behind her polished mask. If Shannon had blinked, she would’ve missed it. “No, sorry—this is my cousin Cecilia from Montreal,” she answered before Jacqueline could. Jacqueline blinked, then, like a chameleon, changed her expression again. She turned to the man, her brow furrowed. “Je suis désolée. Je ne parle pas très bien anglais. Qu’est-ce que vous avez dit?” To Shannon’s ear, the French accent sounded flawless. “Oh. Excusez-moi,” he said with a thick accent. "Well, shall we?" Kallista gestured in the direction of the hatch leading to the galley. "Oh. I'm actually scheduled for the second dinner service." Geni's polite smile covered her true feelings, and just as she saw Kallista about to speak, she quipped, "I suppose as captain you could have Madelia make an exception for me this once, but then again, we wouldn't want to go around breaking the rules for me, would we?" Geni cringed inwardly as soon as the words were out of her mouth, with all their layers of meaning. A crestfallen crease marred Kallista's brow for a moment, and then was replaced by the same mask of politeness Geni had been wearing herself. "Quite right, my good Doctor. I've had a very pleasant day with you. Good evening."
