We used to do the #tapediagramtuesdays in our office to practice! We stopped but should start again! #elemmathchat
Couldn’t help but to post a behind the scenes of this month’s #elemmathchat with @ryanflessner.bsky.social because when else will that be possible?
YES! oh how I love those moments for teachers and kids! #elemmathchat
Yes! Just today I was working with elementary teachers doing work like this. Jaws were literally dropping. It’s such a shame how many people in our world don’t know how you can work with numbers to help computing them make more sense and be more efficient. #elemmathchat
It’s literally amazing what you can do with the simplest moves and flexibility with numbers. I’m still working on training myself to think this way at so many things. #elemmathchat
I mean it was firm criteria. That and loving baseball.
Yes! I love pointing out favorite numbers in different places. For example, my favorite number is 8. For years and years. And then one day I realized I had 8 letters in my name, my last name, and my maiden name and I had literally never made that connection! 8 was meant to be my fave number maybe?🤷🏼♀️
After “taking apart numbers and putting them back together” I would add “so you can use them flexibly.” I think many teachers think if they teach students how to take numbers apart and put them back they have number sense. Isolating number sense ideas is a common issue I see. #elemmathchat
