#AlzChat "If you can access a garden, mid to late autumn activities include cutting back perennials, planting tulips for spring, sweeping paths and gathering leaves. Without a garden, you can sow herbs and flowers in pots, re-potting as they grow..." www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-support/...
wow great idea - looks real #alzchat
#AlzChat - I'm including this popular and effective activity in ideas for seasonal activities in dementia care: Paper-leaf-wreath-making! Paint a range of autumnal colours across a piece of thin card and cut out leaf shapes. Then glue these onto a card ring. Add ribbon or string to hang.

#alzchat dementia friendly Fall train ride as fun activity
great idea #alzchat
#AlzChat Last month we mentioned memory boxes. How about creating an Autumnal box. Fill a box with pine cones, acorns, beechnuts, gourds, cinnamon sticks, orange and gold fabrics etc to create a sensory activity that can stimulate stories or words related to Autumn. (photo C Giles with permission)
#AlzChat - what about autumn poetry? ‘Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away; Lengthen night and shorten day; Every leaf speaks bliss to me, Fluttering from the autumn tree - Emily Brontë
#AlzChat - among various creative activities in 'A Creative Toolkit for Communication in Dementia Care' (JKP publishers) is channelling artist Andy Goldsworthy. Use fallen leaves and berries to create transient patterns on tables or walls or benches. Take a photo. The results are often stunning.
beautiful #alzchat
oh yes! That's lovely - using the senses for an autumn cooking experience in dementia care: Baked apple pie, Pumpkin pie, Butternut squash soup, (veg soups generally), Lentil quiche, Baked potatoes, Cinnamon biscuits, Ginger cookies. #AlzChat

#AlzChat This autumn activity is artfully messy but the results are pleasing! People enjoy the painted cones as table displays. You can add eco-friendly glitter for that extra special sparkle!
#AlzChat The opportunity to gather leaves for pressing still creates a buzz of excitement among the families we've worked with who are living with dementia- This is a process of sorting, choosing, deciding, pressing leaves on sheets of paper beneath heavy books (or a press)...then making a collage.
