AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”

Conventional wisdom: em-dashes indicate AI-generated text. Me: tenderly and painstakingly copy/pasting each of my beloved em-dashes into my text, since they are unavailable on German keyboard layout.

As a German... yikes.

Do not fuck your students. There is a power imbalance. You have great influence on their future careers and they have little power over you, especially since universities fold themselves into pretzels defending their faculty. Do not fuck your students.

Right after my last post I see this. Absolutely. I also hate how AI is shoved in my face constantly. There are a few tasks at which it is great, and a million where I don't need or want AI and I especially hate that everything is called Gemini or Copilot now.
