Stunning movies from @bellecmaelle.bsky.social that capture individual mRNA molecules (magenta) and their nascent translation (cyan) 🐟 (She's on the job market btw!)

DNA → RNA → protein.

From single mRNAs to an entire developing vertebrate embryo, we can now watch this last step unfold in real time.

Our paper is out today! 🐟🔬

This year's cohort of Pathway to Independence Fellows is visiting the @biologists.bsky.social building today for leadership and management skills training by hfp consulting. It is great for our team to get to meet them in person. Best of luck with this training!

The PI Fellows are standing in front of the Company of Biologists building in Histon, UK.

From the new info my bet is fluo labeling inference pushed to 11. Hallucinating nonsensical DAPI nuclei, mitochondria stain, membrane labeling from a kind of phase contrast image: wrong localization, wrong scale, wrong movement. Keeping this movie as SWiM winner is a disgrace to the competition

At Development, we #LovePostdocs. For #NPAW2026, we highlight our 2026 cohort of Pathway to Independence fellows. Read about their unique journeys as they work to secure independent positions, their excitement about the latest advances in their fields & the advice they have received along the way.

Incredibly excited to share my new preprint! 🪰🧬

Ever wondered how germ cells can specify their fate without having a dedicated transcriptional program?

We found that germ cells keep the uncommitted chromatin state of the early embryo

Increasing the breadth of researchers trained as reviewers is crucial. In 2024, we began a program that invites reviewers to add trainees as co-reviewers. Nearly 6000 scientists have participated. All our reviewers, past and present, can now get credit on ORCID. #PeerReviewWeek

Science thanks each of our reviewers for their critical contribution. #PeerReviewWeek
