You know the rules, see Ross Thorn Perry, drink Ross Thorn Perry…
Today is the 117th consecutive day somewhere in the UK has recorded a temperature of 20°C or higher. The 11th of June was the last time we didn't reach this threshold. Fresher air comes in on Wednesday allowing temperatures to fall, and likely to stay just below 20°C.

Just bought the Eric Bordelet mentioned in this article today, for drinking tomorrow night. Nice coincidence
Sam and Kim recently popped into The Jolly Fisherman in Hastings, a proper old-school pub housed in an 18th-century building, with a selection of craft beer, cask ales, Belgian bottles and ciders.
Our Dabinett Bramley cider collab with @rosscider.bsky.social was pouring, so we had a glass!
I honestly thought Albert @rosscider.bsky.social was pulling my leg when he told me our Jeremias Runde had won 1st place in the @3ccpa.bsky.social Perry Championship, and then I was told it also got Best in Show, Supreme Champion! Really not sure how to process that yet! 😁 Thrilled!
Tickets for our expert led talks and tastings are available to reserve on our website, for FREE! Join Albert Johnson @rosscider.bsky.social for 'Perry Pear Varieties to Rely On: A Fireblight Resistance Tasting' at 3.15pm on Sat 3rd October🍐 @3ccpa.bsky.social
Phenomenal!!
Malvern Pudding is a fun one to do too
When there's all this fruit around it's very restorative to eat as much as possible as well as turn it into cider!
Baking season continues
It’s my new favourite drinking hole - perry and cider from all sorts of places and it’s just brilliant- Pat Lock is the very genial owner and can mix up a perfect combo of whatever taste palette you want. Heartily recommend - Thu to Sat.
Best thing about harvest season is that it is also baking season. A summer of being too hot to use the oven is now over! Huzzah!
We've had Sam present at our cider club. He's the real deal.
A reminder that Delo previously pled guilty in the US to violating money laundering protections and agreed to pay a $10 million fine for "willfully” breaking the law with his BitMex platform, which was described as "in effect a money laundering platform.” This is who owns Farage now
Foxwhelp. One of the great apple varieties. Favoured for five centuries, the cider it produces cannot be matched by any other variety for it's intensity, clarity of expression, and notes of strawberries, rhubarb and raspberry depending on vintage / method / orchard.
Early Taynton Squash, afaik. Again very scab heavy, doubt it helps it's a very thick, twiggy canopy growing on a north slope and an absolutely massive tree. Favoured sleeping spot for sheep means we have no grass under it either. Makes a Perry that tastes of pears poached in honey. Love it
Aylton Red, Aka Red Pear. Someone once told me they're meant to be two different varieties but I don't know about that. Our trees are established but prone to scab, yet they're very productive and it makes a supreme, creamy, nutty Perry. 1 month early this year which is bonkers and an outlier.
Thorn pears, from two different orchards. An iconic early season perry pear, probably the second most common variety after Blakeney Red. Good acidity with often light tannins too. Healthy, semi-vigorous trees. Heartily endorse.
Definitely agree it is worth heading to Chester, but actually what Sarah is drinking is the new version of Autumn. We have sold out of the Collab original. Just a handful of keykegs left that aren't onsale anywhere currently!
Yes, exactly. Was the same story last year. The little bit of rain at the end of August has also been timely in swelling the early season fruit. Not that the Foxwhelp would show it mind!
