With all the news of museums being closed and/or defunded, I feel the message of our paper on the importance of natural history research (and the collections housing those specimens) is just as relevant (or more) today as it was when it was published.

Want to *see* a paper in 1:18 minutes?

Our paper is in the latest issue of @ecol-evol.bsky.social so I thought I'll see how Gemini understands it.
I would say the result is 85% accurate, but very enjoyable!

What do you think?

πŸ“£ New paper! πŸ“£ ❓Do clonal fish and their sexually reproducing heterospecifics differ in parasite load? πŸ€’ We found that clonal Amazon mollies were more likely to be infected than Sailfin mollies, but parasite loads were largely the same. πŸ€” Could behavior have something to do with this pattern? 1/3

Something odd or even common? Genotypes of Fucus vesiculosus/spiralis associate with depth on a cm scale. And a third of the biomass in the upper Fucus belt is a sterile hybrid. Are hybrids now ecologically important? See our new paper in Ecology and Evolution @ecol-evol.bsky.social

Human habitat makes foxes move more!

Wait, what? But I thought that mammals move less with increased human footprint.

Well, it is probably a matter of scale - a thread about our new publication in @ecol-evol.bsky.social:

I am so excited to announce that my first first-author, peer reviewed paper was just published in @ecol-evol.bsky.social!

The PrED model aims to save researchers time and resources by finding points in their videos where potential predator-prey encounters have occurred.
