They hounded Aaron Swartz to death for downloading papers from jstor but society is now supposed to just accept mass theft because this thing can write that TPS report *for* you.

The rich get richer in visual processing: latest study with @ivntmc.bsky.social shows that we allocate resources preferentially to stimuli that we feel confident in estimating, which makes us better at estimating them...even if the initial confidence was misplaced.

Do the contents of visual #WorkingMemory deteriorate more quickly when more items are being remembered? Seems a straightforward question but we had to bring together 13 studies and >120,000 trials to get definitive answers... doi.org/10.1037/rev0...

My fourth thesis paper is out in Psychonomic Bulletin & Review! 🎉 #psynomPBR (w/ @mavadillo.bsky.social, @jthee.bsky.social, #DirkVanMoorselar and @jlupiane.bsky.social).

Here, we show that learning to prioritize signals of value depends on selective attention 👇🧵

I made an interactive demo with different visual illusions to replace the old videos we used before. Feel free to play with it here illusions.andreychetverikov.org and to use it yourself (the code is on my Github; if I missed to include somebody in the credits - please let me know).

PREPRINT UPDATE🥳👇:

🧠learning under uncertainty & metacognitive processes are not as generalizable as previously thought! both evolve differently depending on structure & stimulus set

Thanks Andrey, happy to hear you like it. I always felt it was such a great set of ideas, it would be an absolute shame for it not to have its own review.

@ivntmc.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 3:41 PM

That's both fortunate and unfortunate. Thanks for pointing it out, though - here's the preprint, and if anyone wants the TICS version, drop me a message here and I'll send it right away. osf.io/preprints/ps...

We derived six laws of psychophysics from a single efficient-coding equation. The laws include Weber's law; scaling laws in visual working memory (which had been noted before, but with unclear theoretical justification); Wei & Stocker's law of human perception;

Feeling really proud of this one: a review of Bayesian efficient coding with Máté Lengyel and Paul Bays (@bayslab.org) is now available online in TICS!
