Yesterday, our @chppc.bsky.social team was busy at the @sasnews.bsky.social Festival of Research, showcasing our map-based project Layers of London (now more than 17,000 user-generated records!) and our new project in progress, PlaceLayers, which scales up to cover all of England, Scotland and Wales
#TeamWilliam or #TeamHarold? Yesterday we gave out stickers @sasnews.bsky.social Festival of Research as part of our new project to archive #BayeuxTapestry stories. Share yours (you don't have to have seen it!) and be part of history. Visit tinyurl.com/UoLTapestry or use the QR codes! #UoLTapestry
Universities cannot expect researchers to take risks if they are repeatedly at risk of redundancy while losing professional services support, grappling with the gratuitous vagaries of home and international student number swings and both teaching and assessing in an age of unregulated AI.

History Day is back! Join us on 18 November.
Lovely lecture by my fab colleague Adam Chapman on the VCH: ‘Part of the project’s role should be to advocate for archives that speak to their places and communities.’
Being at Chalke History Festival reminds me yet again how interconnected university-based history and other forms of history-making are. The thing we do in one place explicitly supports the thing we do in another. University cuts, closures and job losses harm the entire history eco-system.
