We are very sorry to learn of the death of Professor Chris Wickham. Chris was elected a Fellow of the Society in 1986.

As well as being a superb scholar, Chris played leading roles in shaping and interpreting the research and publishing environments in which historians work #Skystorians

There will be many appreciations of Chris Wickham - as a historian and as a human being. This is a good starting place.
