A screening of John Carpenter classic In the Mouths of Madness, a 4K restoration of Guy Maddin’s 1992 film Careful (a throw back to the German Expressionist films of the 1920s), supernatural horrors, sci fi horrors, gore, chills and the hilariously titled comedy Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant

@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 8:44 PM

That's great to hear. We try and fill that Friday slot with something older and maybe a little bit unseen. We're all fans of Guy Maddin's films - he really creates his own worlds. Hope you enjoy!

Cheers! Will look forward to seeing you there!

Oh boy I’m I glad I got a pass to this year’s Mayhem, because this lineup looks absolutely sick! I’ve been hearing about MARAMA so I’m so glad they got it. GAUA sounds extremely my jam. MUM, I’M ALIEN PREGNANT has to be fun with a title like that. October can’t come fast enough! 🎃

A limited amount of Full Festival Passes are still available for £110, giving you access to all films at this year’s festival. Individual tickets and Frankenstein ticket packages (4 films for the price of 3), will be available from Thursday 17 September at 12PM. We can't wait to welcome you!

We’ll close this year’s edition with Angel Gomez Hernandez’s CRAWLERS in which the residents of an apartment building find themselves fighting for their lives when their building becomes infested with deadly spiders.

A still from the film. A woman lying asleep on a bed. In front of her mouth a large spider hangs from a thread, its legs oustretched towards her lips.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We’ll start our last evening of the festival with Dave Boyle’s NEVER AFTER DARK - a chilling ghost story following a medium’s encounter with a particularly powerful and threatening spirit.

A still from the film. A close-up of a young woman with dark hair on a staircase. Behind her is a dark ominous figure of a man.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We’ll then head to Uruguay for Gustavo Hernández’s THE WHISPER in which two siblings escape from their father’s violent home only to be caught in a snuff film ring. Part folk horror, part supernatural tale, The Whisper is an always surprising disturbing horror.

A still from the film. A young woman cowers in the front seat of a car at night. Outside the window there is a dark finger with a bloody hand pressing against the glass.

Our final day opens with MUM, I'M ALIEN PREGNANT, an icky & hilarious film by directing duo Thunderlips. When a messy millennial underachiever accidentally gets alien-pregnant, she must overcome sceptical doctors, a useless baby-daddy, & her oversharing mum in order to survive and reclaim her life.

A still from the film. A young woman is lying in a hospital bed, pulling up her shirt to show her belly. On one side is a doctor, on the other her mother. Both are staring at her belly.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We will then close the day with a screening of John Carpenter’s 1995 IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS - a Lovecraftian masterpiece starring the late Sam Neill.

A still from the film. In a blue-lit movie theatre, Sam Neil sits in the front row with a bag of popcorn. He's grinning with delight/madness.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

Saturday evening will start with Joko Anwar’s GHOST IN THE CELL, an action-packed film by the director of Impetigore, that blends off-kilter comedy, martial arts, punchy politics, and a whole lot of gore.

A still from the film. A group of prisoners in a dark corridor.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We’ll then head to Spain for Paul Urkijo Alijo’s Basque folk horror GAUA. Set in the 17th Century, the film follows a woman who poisons her husband and flees into the woods where she encounters three old women with stories and secrets to share.

A still from the film. Four women in period costume - a young woman in front, with three older women behind, all looking towards the camera. It's night and they're holding lanterns.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We’ll open Saturday 17 October with Steve Pink’s TERRESTRIAL, a psychological thriller in which four friends meet up for a reunion weekend where paranoia soon creeps into every crack of their friendship.

A still from the film. A very red image with a young man on the right hand side of frame looking up. An alien-looking hand is stretching very long fingers out towards his face.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We round off Friday night with MARAMA, a stunning and unsettling Gothic horror about a young Māori woman who arrives from New Zealand to the Yorkshire estate of an entitled Englishman where dark secrets are soon exposed. Director Taratoa Stappard will join us for a post-screening Q&A.

A still from the film. A young woman in a very fancy red evening dress stands in front of a window. Her face and neck are covered in blood.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

We’ll move into the evening with the previously announced IMPOSTERS from director Caleb Phillips. After a couple’s baby boy is taken, a desperate mother learns of a way to bring him back, but her husband soon suspects who she returned with isn’t quite their son.

A still from the film. A woman with blonde hair and a bandaged hand holds a shotgun, pointed just past the camera.
@mayhemfilmfestival.bsky.socialSep 14, 2026, 7:30 PM

Next up will be YOU ARE THE FILM, the debut film from Makoto Ueda, who previously wrote Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes (Mayhem 2021) and River (Mayhem 2023). The film follows two people in parallel worlds who appear trapped in their own movies.

A still from the film. A young man sits alone in a small movie theatre. He is looking at a screen where a young woman is sitting alone in a very similar looking movie theatre.
