Use the @organicmaps.bsky.social app! I only discovered this app that uses Open Street Maps data a little while before my trip and if only I had found it one month before! It is easy to use and makes saving locations easy and private from Google. I am sending a donation as soon as I get back home.
Have you tried the latest Organic Maps beta? It supports 3D terrain/hillshading (and isolines in feet!), along with other features. beta.omaps.app

Development and debugging of one of the upcoming features (Public Transport)
Google Maps needs a signal and your location history. Organic Maps needs neither.
Free, open-source, offline trail maps for hikers and cyclists, turn-by-turn navigation, no tracking.

I've downloaded @organicmaps.bsky.social onto my phone(s) for the vacation trip and haven't regretted it since! (yet? 😀) It has helped fix nav. mistakes by the car's onboard navi. I'll have to update some OSM data, though, once I'm back home.
It's time to install the August update and enjoy new features and fixes! Read the detailed release note here: organicmaps.app/news/2026-08...
Public Transport routing is in development now, please stay tuned :)
No, we're not renaming it. All map data in Organic Maps comes from the @openstreetmap.bsky.social project.
