@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialI once again join @thescoresnotenough.bsky.social to talk about the soundtrack to one of my favourite films (and one of the grestest sequels ever made). Check out the below to hear me talk about James Horner's score for James Cameron's Aliens!
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialIn a year when one of the largest hits has been Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey, it’s ironic that the biggest Trojan Horse was actually a ridiculously expensive arthouse film smuggled into cinemas under the pretence of being a movie star-led comedy film.

@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialAn excellent Ed Wood double-bill courtesy of the BFI. Looking forward to digging into both of these releases.
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialAlejandro G Iñárritu's Digger: a bold, expensive arthouse movie sold as a studio comedy. Tom Cruise fully commits to his role & holds the screen with gusto. The offbeat tone will alienate many & it doesn't quite pull off every aspect, but it should be commended for its brashness.
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialMark Vanselow - Liam Neeson's longtime stunt double turned director joins podcast #118 to talk about their new movie - THE MONGOOSE - which plays like a 21st Century take on a Smokey & the Bandit style chase flick.

@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialI spoke with director Jonathan Mostow about his career. It was great to hear some fascinating stories about the making of films like Breakdown, Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines & U-571. You'll be able to listen soon on an upcoming episode of the Movies In Focus podcast!

@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialOne of my early TV memories is watching Ian Ogilvy in The Return Of The Saint. It blows my mind that I just talked to him about his new film Knightfall. We also chatted about him working with horror icons Boris Karloff & Vincent Price. Listen soon on the Movies In Focus podcast!
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialNicolas Cage is going full-blown 007, reteaming with Con Air director Simon West in WWII adventure Fortitude - and he appears to be having a lot of fun. This looks to have an interesting cast, curious premise and a good tone. I'm sold - bring it on.

@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialThe best Days Of Thunder anecdote you'll read all week.
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialYeah, the sequel misses the mark!
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialMartin Campbell's The Mask Of Zorro: a thoroughly entertaining swashbuckler. It's an energetic action romp with a winning central trifecta: Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins & Catherine Zeta-Jones. The action is well staged & the comedy onpoint. As good as this type of film gets!
@moviesinfocus.bsky.socialI just chatted with Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald about his new film, The Runner starring Gal Gadot. Of course, I also had to ask him about his excellent political thriller, State Of Play. Check out our talk soon on the next episode of the Movies In Focus podcast!
