Building blocks would be helpful as a reference for mechanics, although I think the encyclopedia aspect of it perhaps makes it a bit dry of a read for those with less experience in board games. I'm playing with the idea of having couple copies as reference and just going through a new mechanic

I'm looking for a textbook for the Board Game Design class I'll be teaching this spring. The class will be a combo of both game design majors and students who presumably have no experience in game dev. The contenders are Building Blocks of Game Design & Game Design Workshop. Am I missing an option?

I always loved the idea of a gritty cyberpunk monocity setting, but if anyone ever ventured out and got over the horizon… they’d find a cosy little farming game homesteading as nature reclaims the wasteland.. and let the players just… find it.
