Thank you for following along with today's event as part of @devex.com Impact House @ #UNGA81, and thank you to our host Rumbie Chakamba.

2/ Working through coalition - namely of therapeutics and diagnostics. All stakeholders need to come together - multisectoral partnership across govt industry CSO research and technical agencies.
Closing the event, Dr Victor Dzau highlighted some final considerations:
1/ Monitoring and evaluation is crucial: we have the #100DaysMission Scorecard, which will continue until at least 2028 led by @impactglobalhealth.bsky.social following IPPS' sunset in early 2027.
Malcolm Sowah: ''It's important that we maintain capabilities between crises. This means effective surveillance, clinical trial networks and regulatory readiness.''
''Industry want to be a part of the solution. Contracts need to be compatible with business requirements - legal and commercial obligations - happening right now with BDBV.'' - James Anderson, IFPMA
''Brazil's COVID response was based on existing institutions which requires sustained investment. A new biotech industry incl. fill & finish for vaccines - responds to Brazil's needs & can be used regionally, capacity allowing.'' - Priscila Ferraz Soares
IFPMA's James Anderson on industry perspectives: ''Pandemic preparedness is insurance for the world. We all need it. Industry have supported the #100DaysMission since the beginning - expertise, products, science - to help the world prepare and respond to outbreaks''
Sowah continues: ''We also launched a Biological Security Strategy which complements the PPR strategy. We also have a cross-govt Board on 100DM. The 100 day goal can’t sit separately from national efforts on surveillance and manufacturing efforts”
Malcolm Sowah of the UK Mission to the UN on UK progress: ''UK just launched PPR strategy which is the centre of this ambition to take rapid & coordinated action. It draws on COVID-19 and simulation exercise on PPR. Moving from preparing from one disease to many.''
Dr Priscila Ferraz Soares @fiocruz.bsky.social highlights: ''Brazil has launched new industrial policy focused on reducing external dependence, increasing mass production & new legislation on the health complex as a national asset for health security & innovation.''
Our second panel session is on ''Delivering the 100 Days Mission: Preparedness in Practice''
Perspectives on embedding the 100 day goal in the strategies, policies & capabilities to enable rapid response w/ inputs from Fiocruz, IFPMA and the UK Mission to the UN.
@medicinespatentpool.org's Charles Gore comments: ''We need to have licenses in place and then triggered before a pandemic. Trying to put things in place interpandemic times to move as quickly as possible''
On BDBV, Sheila Mburu reflects on diagnostics availability: ''At Day 100 we still don’t have a true point-of-care test. This is essential for communities that don’t have access to centralised testing.''
@cepi.net's Dr Richard Hatchett on progress: ''The #100DaysMission is an aspiration, but BDBV is a perfect case to tell us how we’ve progressed towards it. We’re almost at Phase 1 trials. This is an example of Disease X in practice. 100DM is a multi year investment to get there.''
@ippsecretariat.org's Sheila Mburu (contd): ''Regulatory harmonisation in an emergency context is also key. At IPPS, we are working with @path.org to landscape the harmonisation approach across regulatory issues.''
@ippsecretariat.org's Sheila Mburu reflects on the ongoing BDBV outbreak: ''In this ongoing outbreak, we are flying blind, need to detect early in order to respond...having sample access and finalising the PABS annex is key to this''
@dndi.org's Rachel Cohen highlights a key gap: ''As set out by WHO & Africa CDC in The Lancet, although we have the beginnings of an ecosystem for vaccines, we have no ecosystem for therapeutics or for diagnostics''
Our first panel session is on 'Delivering the #100DaysMission: Building the Enabling Ecosystem', with insights from @dndi.org, @cepi.net and @ippsecretariat.org.
What are the capabilities, partnerships and investments needed to accelerate medical countermeasure readiness?
