Today, I'm thinking about the 5-year-old who got in the car with his father like any other day, then watched him be shot by ICE just feet away. ICE is traumatizing our children. Shooting up our sidewalks makes us all unsafe. Federal agents killing people in the streets is an outrage. ICE out NOW.

This LGBTQ+ History Month, we recognize the importance of ensuring LGBTQ+ stories and voices are included in the classroom. Every student deserves to see themselves reflected in what they learn.

The current administration is proposing to either eliminate or greatly restrict the federal E-Rate program—which helps 96% of school districts pay for internet access. Pledge to save internet access at public schools and libraries. 👨‍💻 📚

Clearly, these students understand: educators' working conditions are students' learning conditions. Everyone is harmed when we don't invest in our schools—and fully funding our schools benefits us all.

The math is simple: public dollars should support the public schools that serve the vast majority of our nation's students. Keep public funding in public schools. 📚

At a time when educators, students, and families are calling for more resources to strengthen neighborhood public schools—where 90% of students go—the Trump administration is advancing a voucher plan to divert taxpayer dollars to subsidize private education for a select few.

Your landlord wants more money. The grocery store wants more money. The utility company wants more money. So yes, workers want more money too.

As I shared the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference, educators deserve to have all the resources they need—but between inflation and voucher schemes diverting taxpayer dollars, educators are struggling.

Brown University researchers found that as of the summer of 2026, 1,878 schools are now within a mile of an existing data center, or one that is currently under construction. California has 602 such schools, or roughly 30% of the national total. Florida has 49, and Virginia has 101.

A paycheck matters. So do safe classrooms, reasonable workloads, educator voice, and the support needed to do the job well. Across the country, educators are organizing through their unions to improve the working conditions that impact both staff and students every day.

"They didn't scare me away." After being suspended, doxed, and threatened over social media posts about Charlie Kirk, Florida professor Karen Leader fought back and prevailed. Now she's back in the classroom and speaking out about educators' free speech rights.

On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the lives lost and honor the first responders, survivors, families, and communities whose lives were forever changed. As educators, we carry these stories forward, remembering the importance of compassion, resilience, and coming together as a community.
