Just kicked off the year for Cardiff Business School with a talk about the tremendous and ignored power of Organizational Networks. It was online from France & here is the quick summary I recorded right after on my way to the airport. Do you need a mindblowing Keynote?
Leaders impact the sensemaking of ~40-50%. To impact the entire organization you need to activate and engage someone the organization trusts to speak on your behalf.
The right - not random - 3% of your people is the answer.

Why top-down change doesn’t work? It only reaches 40-50% of the people.
The rest will ignore it.
Activating the informal influencers is a much better way to get change to spread throughout the organization.
Just 3% of the org gives maximum impact.

Sold in +70 countries. Included in MBA curriculums. As relevant today as then.
Maybe more?
One region. Nine country-specific markets. Only one regional headquarters. Can you spot it? Tip: Look for the market that everyone else is drawn to. The one every other country sends an unusually large share of its attention toward.
I haven’t seen evidence showing that Danish/Scandinavian companies are more flat than in other countries.
The opposite is what I see. They are hierarchical. Like in this Danish organization ⬇️
