@ucuglasgow.bsky.socialThe University has publicly said all redundancies will be voluntary but this budget cut after the issuing and retraction of contract extensions for many GTAs and the vague criteria for cancellation of AT contracts acts as effectively compulsory redundancies by the back door.
@ucuglasgow.bsky.socialBy cutting the budget for graduate teaching assistants in SPS and assistant tutors in Education not only is a major financial lifeline taken away from postgraduate researchers, but inevitably this means an increased workload for permanent staff who are already overstretched and burned out.
