The five Platonic Solids on a matching throw. Made by two boys at my Curious Minds Club. The material is Polydron Frameworks. #VisualMaths #MathsEd #PlatonicSolids #Polyhedra
Step up! 🪜
Using just purple squares, green thick rhombuses, and blue thin rhombuses to build a 3D optical illusion structure.
How many steps to the top? 🤔

Parallelepipeds ... even harder to spare than parallelograms
Love this creation from our recent Curious Minds club!
Beyond the striking symmetry, the way a square sits next to a thick & thin rhombus naturally creates a 3D cube effect. A brilliant example of 2D geometry suggesting 3D depth!
The fine motor skills here are amazing! As someone who writes about Connect Four and its forgotten relatives, I think this dog just raised the bar for abstract strategy players 🔴🟡

Can you form a square using exactly 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7 tangram pieces? Hint: 6 is impossible
We’ve been tackling this at my Curious Minds Club—the kids loved the tactile nature of the wooden pieces. They thrived on the trial and error of finding every solution 🧩
Fantastic to see! Tangrams are always a massive hit in my after-school club: the children love the tactile feel of the wooden pieces. Did your children have a favourite shape or challenge to build?
Nice to discover a fellow lover of tangrams. I recently blogged about how to make every tangram square with 1,2,3,4,5 or 7 pieces. I use them in my after school club. The children enjoy the tactile nature of the activities.
I joined BlueSky yesterday! My first post was on tangrams. I blogged about how to make every square with 1,2,3,4,5 or 7 pieces. The children in my after school club loved handing the wooden pieces.
Hello Bluesky! We’re live at Games4Life, sharing deep-dives into geometry, maths puzzles, and board games.
Fresh on the blog: Why 7 simple shapes yield many possibilities - and the fascinating geometry behind Tangram paradoxes.
