Babe Ruth was one of the greatest baseball players in history. He revolutionized the sport with his homerun hitting but he may have never found his way to baseball immortality if not for a priest from Cape Breton. This is the story of Brother Matthias. 📸 SABR 🧵 1/8

Black and white photo of Babe Ruth and Brother Matthias. Babe Ruth, is wearing a New York Yankees jacket, knee-high socks, and shorts, typical of early baseball uniforms. Brother Matthias is dressed in a formal suit and tie.

Fascinated & moved by viral footage of Parisian lycéens singing Charles Aznavour's "Emmenez-moi." Classic chanson of their grandparents' era—a hit in '68, no less—about working-class drudgery/dreams of escape, whose implicit politics these kids are making them explicit, in real time, in the street

Our work travelling The Land Grab exhibit would not be possible without financial support from sponsors such as the Nanaimo Foundation. We are grateful for this wonderful organization and all that they make possible in our communities. Find out more about their impact at NanaimoFoundation.com

This is outrageous. Homelessness is a systemic societal problem that requires commitment from elected leaders to resolve. Fining under-resourced museums because homeless people gather on their property is not a solution! Does Oshawa want this museum to have to close?

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and a good day to reflect on the ways that colonization continues to impact Indigenous peoples. Take a moment to learn about the great land grab, and what it means for life on Vancouver Island #VILandGrab #cdnHist #bcHist youtu.be/xJ7P0rP95d8

On Saturday, former Canadian Boxing Heavyweight Champion, George Chuvalo died. Famous for his two bouts against Muhammed Ali, Chuvalo was never knocked down in any of his 93 fights. The image is of a young Chuvalo, possibly taken in 1955, a year before he turned professional at the age of 18.
