Pragmata asks us not only whether AI can become conscious or achieve some level of personhood, but what role we play in its development. I highly recommend it as one of the must-play games of the year.

"The game never makes clear what identity Diana had before Hugh. Her identity is not something he uncovered — it took shape because he stayed, and kept staying, and it develops with every interaction."

"Next is a kind of passion fatigue or caring so much about playing, completing, enjoying, or critically engaging a game that you run out of cares and detach and withdraw. The demands of immersion and interactivity become a chore, and the magic circle of play becomes a trap."

Harvey Huffstone might have been a jerk, but maybe there's still a chance for him to die emotionally fulfilled: "Instead of dying cold, old and lonely, he is surrounded by people who were affected by his actions, people who decided that his life was worth celebrating."
