Pragmata asks us not only whether AI can become conscious or achieve some level of personhood, but what role we play in its development. I highly recommend it as one of the must-play games of the year.

Scientists warn of the impending Minecraft singularity, where player growth exceeds total population growth.

I think the addition of The Sift is one of the best announcements that could’ve come out of Minecraft Live.

Me and a friend just did a soul-link nuzlocke challenge on this. Now we are halfway through Soul Gold.

Fair, “support team” probably isn't the right term. But they did have to shelve other projects to take this on, and that is likely a result of Bethesda dragging on Elder Scrolls 6 development. Hopefully, Obsidian will be able to pursue original IPs afterwards.

Control might be the most frustrating game I’ve played this year. I don’t know the last time I played a game that crashed this much.

My first post is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Silent Hill 2 release by looking at how I got into the franchise and some of my favorite things I've read about it.

I have decided to give Substack as a place to post my personal thoughts and essays. For now, I will keep my reviews, previews, and some critical analyses.

So Control Resonant is pretty fun except it’s randomly crashed on me like six times in the first day playing it.

I was a huge fan of RuneScape growing up. Dragonwilds was a great way to get me and a couple of friends back together without going to the MMO. #RuneScape

Sometimes, you write about games. Sometimes, you write about not playing games. Sometimes there's a game called Exhausted Man, and you do both. New from @edmondchang.bsky.social, looking back on a summer without games through the lens of ludofatigue:

Great movie, and a great read. I was always confused why they hired one Bryan instead of an army of Bryans, or just flew the cure in by helicopter. I guess it's just corporate logic cutting costs even during the apocalypse.

It's such a shame that a studio talented enough to ship three games in a single year is being reduced to a Fallout support team just cause Bethesda can't ship Elder Scrolls.

The Sable Design Works was the first book I bought from Lost in Cult. So glad it's getting a reprint, so more people have an opportunity to grab a copy.

Burn-9 by @14hoursproductions.bsky.social is like a weird fusion between Metal Gear Solid and Dispatch that has you guiding an operative through tense encounters. I highly recommend checking out the demo for yourself on Steam.

Someone should turn the 35 years of Game Informer covers into an archival or pop art exhibit. Even a digital gallery online that shows the cover and a brief snippet on the context would be cool.

I had an idea for a Resident Evil spinoff where you're a ranger in the Arklay Mountains, going about your routine while other rangers radio in injured hikers and rabid animals. Then you head back to your tower for your rifle. No idea what the ending would be tho.
