How does auxin integrate environmental cues?
@czren.bsky.social (from @kleinevehnlab.bsky.social lab) explored how systemic auxin oscillations integrate light and temperature to control lateral rooting, revealing how environmental signals shape root system architecture.

How do cells decide who stays during development? @joshifrenster.bsky.social used 3D mouse gastruloids to study cell competition, showing how cells respond to their neighbours’ fitness and how developmental timing shapes this quality-control process.

Last Wednesday we launched the Developmental & Stem Cell Biology seminar series! Bringing together research across plants and animals, the first session featured Joshua Frenster and Chengzhi Ren, followed by pizza & drinks. A great initiative by @joshifrenster.bsky.social and @aliseleit.bsky.social!

🐟 New preprint ! 🐟 For Hippo pathway aficionados. We generated a CRISPR/Cas9 mediated single-copy endogenous Yap1-mGreenLantern fusion protein in medaka to follow Yap1 dynamics in vivo, through embryogenesis and beyond. And it is such a beautiful line ! 🧵

CRISPR can precisely edit a plant genome. But that may be the easy part. 🧬🌱 Will it actually change agriculture — and who will be able to benefit from it? That depends on much more than molecular precision. @cibss.bsky.social @uni-freiburg.de @kleinevehnlab.bsky.social

CRISPR is widely celebrated as a precise molecular tool in medicine — yet remains controversial in plant breeding, particularly in Europe. 🌱🧬 A striking example of why technologies are judged by much more than what they can do molecularly. Curious? Read, comment and/or share our Correspondence!

How is CRISPR embedded in society—and how can it change agriculture? 🌱🧬
Ursula Franklin argued long before CRISPR-Cas that technologies are shaped by the systems around them: regulation, access and trust!

Exciting to see ENSA research featured by SWR @swr.de.web.brid.gy. In this short TV report, @ottlab.bsky.social and @henrietteruebsam.bsky.social explain how studies of nitrogen-fixing symbioses could inform future work in crops such as cassava and maize.
