NEW: Staff at HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Hachette told @adamm0rgan.bsky.social AI is infiltrating their workplaces, from generating cover art and back cover copy, to publicity materials, to rejection emails, as execs tell junior staff to "champion" the tech. www.wired.com/story/book-p...

Seems like a good time to note that Barnes and Noble sells individual issues of Clarkesworld, Apex, Lightspeed, Nightmare, Three-Lobed Burning Eye, Uncanny, and other zines, usually for under $5 per issue. Beneath Ceaseless Skies sells some "best ofs" for under $5 as well.

Sometimes (like all the time) you just have to toot your own horn. We're incredibly proud of the books that we've published this year and we think you should all read them. So we added them to the @sfwa.bsky.social recommended reading list on sfwa.org Go check it out and add your own if you're able!

I cannot stress enough how iconoclastic it is to be opposed to the massive, monolithic corporation when buying books. Especially a book like this.

It’s officially book day! Dear Blind Lady is OUT! 291 pages of as many questions as I could answer. I’m grateful to all my contributors, but most especially Alice Wong who wrote the section on how to work with PCA’s. Buy the book, come to an event, fight ableism.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead
